NIDRISTA is devoted to supporting human beings on their rest journeys. Whether you’re seeking stress relief, nervous system regulation, or a deeper connection to yourself, NIDRISTA is here to gently guide you home.

NIDRISTA is a play on the Sanskrit word nidrā, meaning ‘rest’ or ‘sleep’, and can be understood as ‘one who rests’ or ‘one who practises yoga nidrā’.

JOHANNA ANDERSSON

You found me! I’m a Stockholm-based writer, yoga nidrā teacher, and energy healer who ha uncovered the long-forgotten secret that I like to call rest magick. Blending ancient practices with my own intuitive gifts, I offer deep, nourishing rest through recorded yoga nidrā meditations and restorative gatherings.

As a Cancer sun and mother of two, my greatest joy is to nurture and guide individuals back home to themselves. I’m a devoted advocate of Nidrā Shakti (the divine power of rest and sleep), fiercely committed to normalising rest as a radical act of self-care — as well as a spiritual practice — and I truly believe that deep rest (lots of it!) is the well-hidden key to creativity and prosperity.

After spending well over a decade in the fast-paced fashion industry as a stylist, editor, and copywriter — while battling stress and anxiety myself — I’ve experienced firsthand the toll of exhaustion. Now, in my resting era, I’m determined to unveil the illusions of modern life, wielding rest as a gateway to truth, transformation, and liberation.

Q&A

Q: What’s your sun, moon, and rising?

A: I’m a Cancer Sun, Libra Moon, Sagittarius Rising.

Q: What’s your human design?

A: I’m a generator through and through.

Q: What’s your style of teaching yoga nidrā?

A: I’ve trained in “Total Yoga Nidrā” with the Yoga Nidra Network. This means that my teaching is not tied to any specific lineage but is instead free-flowing, intuitive, and poetic. Each practice is created in devotion to Nidrā Shakti — the healing power of rest and sleep — and to Mother Nature, she who holds us, nourishes us, and inspires us with her bountiful beauty.

Q: What’s your biggest inspiration?

A: Nature. Always.

Q: Do you offer private sessions?

A: Yes! I offer private rest sessions for individuals and groups both online and in-person in Stockholm, Sweden. Reach out to rest@nidrista.com to learn more.

Q: Do you read from a script when you teach?

A: When creating yoga nidrās for this Substack, I often write a script before recording the practice. However, when I teach live, I never use a script. This is so that I can be fully present with the students and with the practice.

Please note: All my nidrās are original. I never use scripts by other teachers.

Q: Why do you personally practice yoga nidrā?

A: For me, the practice of yoga nidrā helps me ground and soften back into myself, relaxing my nervous system completely. It allows me reconnect with my body and subconscious mind so that I can open into creativity, intuition, and inner truth. It’s also the quickest and most pleasurable way for me to enter deep meditation.

Q: What kind of energy healing do you offer?

A: I’m trained in Reiki (First and Second Degree, Usui Shiki Ryoho), but I prefer to call it “intuitive energy healing” to release myself from rules and boundaries. While I love to offer healing in person, I find distance healing to be equally powerful.

Q: What’s something that truly fascinates you?

A: The subconscious mind and the nervous system.

Q: What has expanded you lately?

A: Psilocybin.

Q: What do you currently dream about?

A: Living close to nature in a community of likeminded people.
